Finding Heathfield

Finding us is easy. Whether you're coming by train, coach or car, there are full instructions below to help you find us.

When you arrive, we will welcome you and do everything we can to help you settle in and quickly feel at home.

By public transport

On foot

If you are walking to Heathfield from the station, or from Prince of Wales Road or Bishopgate and then along the river, please see the By train section below.

Heathfield is at the junction of Cannell Green and Heathgate, near Gurney Road.

A very pleasant route is to go through the car park by the Adam and Eve pub (NR3 1RZ) and then cross the river using the curved Jarrold pedestrian bridge. Turn right onto the riverside footpath (go down some steps and then under the bridge). Follow the path past some office buildings, through a car park and around the health club, cross the main road at the lights and the green on the footpath, then turn rightonto Cannell Green.

If you're coming from the University of the Arts, follow the riverside path. Go past the the Ribs of Beef, cross both Fye Bridge Street and Whitefriars, and go past St James's Mill (which includes the John Jarrold Printing Museum). Use the map above once you reach the new curved footbridge named 'Jarrold Bridge'.

By train

Norwich railway station has regular services to and from London, taking about 2 hours. It takes 15 minutes to walk to Heathfield from the station along Riverside/Bishop Bridge Road (A147). If you have luggage, you may prefer to take a bus (no 23 or 24) just one stop along Riverside (see Map A).

At the Kett’s Hill roundabout, follow the pavement left along Barrack Street to the pedestrian crossing. A footpath crosses the grassy area to Cannell Green. Turn right and Heathfield is the last building on your left.

By coach

There are regular services from Victoria Coach Station, and the journey takes a little over 3 hours. Exit Norwich Bus Station (see map B) leaving the ticket office to your left, and turn left into Surrey Street. Then turn right into St Stephens Street, and go straight on at the crossroads. Take either a 25 or a 26 bus from the bus stop outside Debenhams department store. The bus will take you to the railway station – follow the By train directions from there.

By taxi

There is a taxi rank at Norwich station, where you can take a taxi without booking. In all other cases, taxis in Norwich must be booked by phone. They generally come very promptly.
