Living in Norwich

Heathfield Norwich is a short walk (15 minutes) from Norwich station, or there's a bus stop about 5 minutes from the house. The lively city centre is a 20-minute walk away.
Norwich has a lively mix of cultural life, whether you're into clubbing, theatre, bellringing, board games or music. It's all within 30 minutes walk from the doorstep and certainly lives up to the strapline 'A fine city'.

Eating out
Norwich has a good mix of chain and independent restaurants and cafes catering to all tastes and diets. Close to Heathfield Norwich, Magdalen Street is one of the most diverse in the city, offering Jerusalem street food, vegan Thai takeaway, a French cafe, a Moroccan patisserie, Indian curry houses and a halal Subway.

In the city centre, you'll find the big names you would expect, such as Five Guys, Jamie's Italian, Bill's and Nando's.

Shopping
Norwich is consistently voted as one of the top shopping destinations in England. The city has two shopping centres that between them stock all the big brands. The Lanes is a medieval neighbourhood with a good collection of independent shops. Norwich Market is one of the oldest and largest open-air markets in the country.

Nightlife
Norwich famously had a church for every week of the year and a pub for every day. While that's no longer true, it still has enough to offer to entertain for most of the academic year. Head down to Prince of Wales Road for the largest concentration of nightclubs or find a pub that suits you and turn it into your local.

Culture
The city has a vibrant cultural life, with many art galleries, museums, clubs and societies. There are many opportunities to get involved in making music and drama. Or you can get involved in social and community action.

Entertainment
Cinema City, a Picturehouse venue, has a discounted membership for students and a good selection of films and live broadcasts from theatres in London. Throughout Norwich you'll find trampoline parks, escape rooms, beautiful walks along the river and, when the weather gets hot, the nearest beach is about a half hour train ride away.
